It seems over the past few years Direct Tv sports packages have become available like NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Innings, Etc.
Watching all 16 NFL football games being played each week is great .Is it worth the $300.00 you pay? Lets face it, these Sports packages are perfect for a sports bar who has more then 4 televisions where then can get their money worth by watching most of the games being played. For those of us who do not own a Sports Bar, and live in an average house with at the most 3 televisions in separate rooms, we can only watch 3 of the games being played at one time. So let’s break that down 3 games at a time, so 6 well 7 with Monday night out of 16 games a week for the bargain price of $300.00. read more »
Things are finally getting back to normal in Major League Baseball, although the race is tight; the Yankees are in their rightful place right now. With a win Last night, and also with Oakland’s win over Texas the Yankees have finally clinched a playoff spot for this year. There was no big celebration, which I believe is a good sign. It shows that there is a concentration on the next hurdle, which is winning the division. This Hurdle is going to be a difficult task as the second place RED SOX’s are playing their best baseball of the season as of late. With this weekend’s three game series rapidly approaching in the Bronx, the Yankees can make a huge step in overcoming that hurdle by beating the Red Sox’s, or stumble if they lose their focus. If they win the division, the next big goal would be securing home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Again another huge task considering the team right behind the Yankees by 4 games is the LA Angels. Home field advantage would be crucial in a series with LA considering the way the games go for the Yankees in LA. read more »
Dish Network does not offer the NFL Sunday Ticket Why? It is a good idea for a sports bar but not for your home. How many games do you really watch each week, and unless you have 16 televisions in your home each with it’s own receiver your not going to benefit from it anyway. In order to keep you up to date with all the NFL action, Dish Network offers the NFL Redzone channel broad cast on channel 155 starting September 13th, which will switch through all the games as a team enters the red zone. For those of you who may not be familiar with the red zone it is the scoring zone between the 20-yard line and the goal line. You will be able to watch all the scoring drive from around the league as they happen, for a cheaper price which is part of a sports package for $5.99 per month. read more »
Brought to you by Oregon and Boise State
We have all seen the videos of athletes losing their cool, from the Ron Artest incident in the stands, to Mike Tyson turning Cannibal on Evander Holyfield’s ear. Lets face it there are enough of these video’s for SPIKE TV to add a show to their line up called When Athletes Attack. Let me first state there is no excuse for any of this behavior, some more so then others (Mike Tyson). I mean you were already in a fight and had permission to beat Holyfield up with your hands but you choose to Bite him I don’t understand this. Why not just fight harder? Anyway, the latest incident in the ongoing issue of competitive sports happened at the end of a college football game between Boise State and Oregon. Oregon Senior running back LeGarrette Blount, punched Boise State defensive end Byron Hout in the jaw knocking him at least down possibly out for a few seconds. In no way am I condoning this shot to the jaw, but we have to all step back for a second. Let’s take an honest look at ourselves when we were 22. read more »
Could Not Hold Kennedy's Jock
After a long day at work, I want to come home play with the kids spend time with my wife and watch some TV to relax. Last night the relax factor was stolen from me as I turned on Sports Center. There it was, Curt Shilling has some interest in Kennedy’s vacant Senate seat. WHAT? Seriously? Have we not heard enough of this egomaniac on numerous radio shows on WEEI whining about everyone and everything when it has nothing to do with him? I guess we are all entitled to our opinion but someone needs to tell this guy to shut his mouth. You’re retired Curt nobody cares what you have to say anymore. read more »
Pay per view on Dish Network provided the UFC 102 on Saturday, and with names Like Couture, Nogueria, Thiago Silva, Keith Jardine, Marquardt, and Maia you knew the action would be great. Lets start with what many considered to be the twilight league of MMA with Randy the Natural fighting at 46 years old and Antonio Minotaro Nogueira fightingat 33 years old many feel these guys are to old to compete at this level. Well, once again they did not disappoint. These two warriors came out and fought to a 3 round decision despite their age. It seems as though father time has forgotten about these guys as they started the fight with stand up exchange that puts younger fighters to shame. Although The Natural beat Minotaro to the punch most of the time, he remained patient then landed a hard right to drop Couture. Once on the ground the two put on what can only be described as a clinic on ground fighting. read more »
Friday night TV is sometimes boring. Not tonight, and not with Dish Network. Tonight you will have your pick of either The Yankees playing the White Sox on my tv 9 Channel 8105 at 7:05, or on Channel 8491 The New England Patriots are playing the Red Skins in a preseason game at 8:00 pm. What, you do not like sports? Okay then Dish offers you over 290 channel options with the Americas “Everything” programming package. I am sure you can find something to keep you occupied. You can watch Fast and the Furious in high definition on fox HD again, or maybe the food network is more your speed. Either way Dish has got you covered. So forget about going to the movies tonight as two very anticipated movies Halloween 2 and Final Destination are opening and the cinemas will be packed. So stay at home watch the game or whatever you feel like on your own couch while saving $30.00 for tickets, popcorn, and a drink. For me the it will be the couch a cold beer and the Yankees channel 8105.
